Our Mission

Women-owned local small business with a Non-Profit heart

Success starts with our community. Driven by an enduring commitment to our core values, we will enhance the lives of our guests, clients, and neighbors by creating extraordinary experiences, while endeavoring to preserve the history and architecture of our venue and the environmental stewardship which benefits our riverfront landscape.

Our event venue, set within the unique backdrop of a former church, is positioned to redefine memorable occasions. With a focus on versatility, our facility caters to weddings, conferences, and various gatherings. We distinguish ourselves by seamlessly blending historic charm with modern amenities.

Our mission is to create exceptional experiences, and we are committed to contributing 20% of our profits to a non-profit charitable foundation dedicated to local adoption services. This dual-purpose approach not only positions us as a premier event destination but also underscores our dedication to social impact.

Intentionality.

The team at the Sanctuary has invested a great deal of consideration to create a tranquil space which does not change the footprint of the facility and gently creates improvements through the use of regenerated materials and careful conservation controls.

History of
The Sanctuary

Built in 1926, our building as always been a place for community and gathering. The architectural style of the old church building is an adaptation of the English perpendicular Gothic. The structure is of natural gray stone and the principal features are massive walls and buttresses, relieved by great mullioned window openings. The exterior walls are of blue limestone taken from Hershey quarries and the stone trimmings of Indian limestone taken from the Hummelstown quarries. The style of architecture is Tudor-Gothic, topped by a dome 14 feet in diameter with a large skylight. The building is octagonal in shape - nether pillar nor post obstructs the view.

Every modification we make to improve the facility’s magnificent amenities is done with thoughtful preservation of the materials and footprint of the original, 100-year-old building. This includes upgrading our HVAC with the newest renewable and sustainable energy-producing clean products. Any wood, cement, or tile removed to modernize accessibility and comfort will be re-purposed into a part of the furnishings and artwork in the structure. Ours is not to forget or replace – ours is to memorialize and respect.
